Le Festival International du Film Ethnographique du Québec (FIFEQ) est né en 2003 à l’initiative d’un groupe d’étudiant.e.s en anthropologie visuelle de l’Université de Montréal. Ce festival unique en son genre et gratuit pour le public représente une des rares plateformes de diffusion et de promotion du cinéma ethnographique au Canada. Grâce à la généreuse implication bénévole de centaines d’étudiant.e.s issu.e.s des universités Concordia, McGill et UdeM, de professionnel.le.s du milieu, de cinéphiles et de nombreux partenaires, le FIFEQ a réuni plusieurs milliers de spectateur.trice.s animé.e.s par la passion du cinéma, de l’anthropologie visuelle, ou simplement par la curiosité de découvrir des pépites du genre ethnographique.

À travers la frontière ténue entre mythes, savoirs et vérités, la 22e édition du FIFEQ-Montréal explore la mythologisation comme construction collective, celle qui traverse nos sociétés, nos imaginaires et nos manières de voir le monde. La mythologisation comme pratique sociale et anthropologique universelle qui permet de dire et de comprendre le réel dans sa complexité, collectivement et individuellement...

La 22e édition approche et, pour la faire vivre, nous avons besoin de vous ! Que vous soyez étudiant·e, chercheur·euse, cinéphile ou simplement curieux·se, il y a une place pour vous.

S’impliquer au FIFEQ, c’est :

• Animer ou modérer des discussions après les projections
• Participer comme panéliste
• Contribuer à la coordination des séances
• Accueillir le public
• Capturer les moments du festival en photo

The Festival International du Film Ethnographique du Québec (FIFEQ) was born in 2003 on the initiative of a group of students in visual anthropology from the University of Montreal. This one-of-a-kind festival, free for the public, is one of the few platforms for the distribution and promotion of ethnographic cinema in Canada. Thanks to the generous volunteering of hundreds of students from Concordia, McGill and UofM universities, industry professionals, film lovers and numerous partners, FIFEQ has brought together several thousands of spectators, driven by a common passion for cinema, visual anthropology, or, simply, by the curiosity to discover gems of the ethnographic genre.

Through the fine line between myths, knowledge and truths, the 22nd edition of FIFEQ-Montréal explores mythologization as a collective construction that runs through our societies, our imaginaries and our ways of seeing the world. Mythologization as a universal social and anthropological practice that allows us to articulate and understand the complexity of the real, collectively and individually...
